Shorefront Apartment Complex

KILLAM apartment reit | stratford, PE | 2019

Located on the shorefront of Hillsborough Harbour in Stratford, developers of this 79 unit apartment complex wanted a landscape plan that went beyond aesthetics to contribute to local wildlife habitat, eliminate the need for irrigation, and minimize maintenance requirements.  Through careful selection of native and adaptive plant species, Haute Nature provided detailed design services to create a landscape plan that included drought-tolerant pollinator-friendly plantings, low-mow alternative groundcover, and native trees, shrubs and perennials. Other important considerations included species with high salt tolerance from spray off the harbour and de-icing salt, and species with persistent fruit to provide food sources for wildlife during the winter months and visual interest year-round.
