When the owners of this penthouse property moved into their home, they looked out onto a wide-open blank canvas. Using a mix of Ipe decking, natural stone and green roof surfaces, the terrace was divided into several outdoor living spaces that could accommodate a variety of activities from small intimate gatherings to larger dinner parties. A strong central axis seams the terrace together and draws the eye from inside the home outward through each space, disappearing into the sky.
This project earned 1st prize in the category “Small Spaces” at the 2016 L’Association des Paysagistes Professionnels du Québec (APPQ) Design Competition.
It was completed while working at Stuart Webster Design in Montreal, QC.
